Your guide to Comic-Con is Dr. Matthew J. Smith, chair and associate professor in the Department of Communication at Wittenberg University. He is a frequent attendee of Comic-Con and led groups of students there in 2007,
2008, and 2009. Dr. Smith also teaches "Comic Books as Culture" at Wittenberg University
and is co-author of a textbook called The Power of Comics. He has spoken and written about comics and a number
of popular culture phenomena including reality television and the World Wide Web. In 2009, Wittenberg University's Alumni
Association recognized him with their Distinguished Teaching Award.
