Your guide to Comic-Con is Dr. Matthew J. Smith, chair and associate professor in the Department of Communication at Wittenberg University. He is a frequent attendee of Comic-Con and led groups of students there in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Dr. Smith also teaches "Comic Books as Culture" at Wittenberg University and is co-author of a textbook called The Power of Comics. He has spoken and written about comics and a number of popular culture phenomena including reality television and the World Wide Web. In 2009, Wittenberg University's Alumni Association recognized him with their Distinguished Teaching Award.

He is also President of the Ohio Communication Association.
